The committee for combating discrimination at Res publica

The Anti-Discrimination Committee , also known as "COLUTTE ," is a working group created within Res publica. It was established at the initiative of team members. The idea was to define a clear framework for measures to be taken in situations of incivility , harassment , or discrimination that may arise in the course of our work, particularly during our events. Composed of three team members , it works closely with all employees to facilitate the effective practice of civic participation and ensure the quality of dialogue between stakeholders.

A committee with multiple objectives

The anti-discrimination committee helps to achieve several objectives, which we present in this article.

COLUTTE's work involves reflection aimed at developing and proposing the most inclusive facilitation strategies and methods possible. This allows us to include all types of audiences, including those furthest removed from dialogue and public debate. Our actions focus on:
- Consultation strategy. From the initial planning stages of our initiatives, we consider how to make consultation as inclusive as possible.
- Mobilizing diverse audiences. We strive to engage all types of audiences, particularly those most directly affected by the topic or project under discussion. This sometimes involves implementing specific programs: for example, workshops for children, young people, residents of priority neighborhoods, or people with disabilities.
- Facilitating inclusive processes. We implement adapted methods that allow everyone to feel comfortable and express themselves freely.
- Ensuring access to online consultation for those with limited digital access. We tested the adaptability of our Jenparle consultation platform with this type of audience through user surveys on the platform's design, and made the necessary modifications to improve accessibility.

We developed an internal guide for organizing inclusive consultations; each consultant can refer to it when implementing new consultation strategies.

As part of our activities, we do not tolerate any form of discriminatory, sexist, racist, or sexually motivated language or actions, or any form of violence.

To this end, we have implemented several measures:
- A consultation charter outlining the general conditions for each activity. We will refer to this charter as needed.
- A letter of commitment at the beginning of each citizen convention, signed by each participant.

Together with management, the COLUTTE ensures that every member of the Res publica team works in a safe and supportive environment. Each new team member receives an introduction to the COLUTTE and the values we share at Res publica regarding the fight against discrimination. Team members can contact the COLUTTE or management at any time to report a complex problem and receive guidance.
