ADEME, 2 Degrees Investing Initiative (a think tank specializing in financing the low-carbon transition) and Res publica have formed a consortium to run the FiRéno+ project, which involves organizing roundtables bringing together stakeholders in energy renovation and small-scale renewable energies integrated into buildings in France. The project is co-financed by the European LIFE 2021-2027 program. Indeed, making energy consumption more efficient, an essential part of achieving carbon neutrality, will not happen without the buildings sector: it accounts for 44% of the energy consumed in France, according to the Ministry of the Economy in 2021. The buildings sector also presents significant opportunities for renewable energy production. To meet European and national targets for reducing greenhouse gas emissions, we need to invest in high-performance renovation and renewable energy production in buildings. So far, however, these investments have been insufficient.
The FiRéno+ project aims to organize round tables bringing together all stakeholders in the French building sector (financial, operational and institutional players, etc.). The project's ambition is to help them build a common vision, and together come up with turnkey solutions to remove the obstacles to increased investment in high-performance building renovation and renewable energy production.
The project, centered on the organization of round tables, also includes a number of studies carried out by ADEME and 2DII. These studies feed into the dialogue between stakeholders.
The project tackles the problem of financing high-performance renovation of buildings and renewable energies in its various dimensions: studies and roundtables cover buildings in the residential and tertiary sectors, as well as the distinct problems of the French overseas territories and those of mainland France and Corsica...
The approach uses a variety of tools to ensure continuous dialogue: face-to-face plenary sessions, remote thematic working groups, asynchronous dialogue tools via an online platform Jenparle...
